Dental Pod: Ultrasonic Cleaning Dos and Don'ts (2025)
Here are some easy steps for taking care of your Dental Pod, helping preserve the integrity of your device and helping you get the best out of it.
Dos
-
Fill the tank till the recommended level
Before you start to clean, fill the Dental Pod's tank with cold/room temperature water up to the indicated level.
An overfilled tank may spill due to the vibration caused by the ultrasonic waves. As well as reducing its cleaning effectiveness, the liquid spills could damage the electrical components of the Dental Pod.
-
Add a tablet for deeper cleaning
Adding an Ultrasonic Boosting Tablet to your Pod supercharges its cavitational cleaning effect and leaves a refreshing mint aftertaste on your retainers.
-
Unplug the Dental Pod after use
Plug the Dental Pod in when you have added the water, tablet and your oral appliance. Once the self-timed 5 minute cleaning cycle completes, simply unplug the unit to avoid overheating or electricity-related risks.
- Clean the Dental Pod around once a week
We recommend this as debris from cleaning your retainer can build up on the bottom of the tank. Use a biodegradable Protective Cleaning Wipe to remove any residue.
Don'ts
-
Use hot water for cleaning
Whilst high temperatures can accelerate the decomposition of dirt, they can damage soft dental materials.
Please follow the instructions that accompany the Dental Pod regarding water temperature.
-
Don't try self-repairing the Dental Pod
The Dental Pod is designed to work on high voltage, so we advise against trying to repair any breaks yourself.
It's worth noting that if you open the unit at home, you will lose the warranty that comes along with it. Always register your devices for our 12 month warranty and reach out to our customer support team if you encounter any issues with your Pod.
-
Don't use an unrecommended liquid for cleaning
Don't use an unrecommended or flammable liquid for ultrasonic cleaning. Never use alcohol-based liquids as they can vaporise quickly.
-
Don't put in too many items at once
Although you may want to throw all of your oral appliances in at once to save time, don't overcrowd your Dental Pod. Doing so might damage your items as their surfaces would rub against each other, causing scratches.
